High

Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, NYU

Love can be an addiction, as much as any substance. Join the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus as we take a surprising, entertaining and thought provoking musical look at the many faces of our collective obsessions.

The evening’s centerpiece is the New York premiere of the critically acclaimed Through a Glass, Darkly, a 45-minute highly-theatrical rock opera about a relationship torn apart by crystal meth. Echoing the Tony award-winning Next to Normal, the rich, lush score will transport audiences with its blend of introspection, frankness, humor and levity. Like a shimmering disco ball, Through a Glass, Darkly shines a light on how drug addiction shatters lives and loves. On a much lighter side, the balance of the concert features a mix of songs by such artists as Coldplay and the Eurythmics that look at these driving forces from a much quirkier perspective.

This boundary breaking, ambitious event is part of NYCGMC’s ongoing mission to use song to illuminate and focus on issues that affect our entire community – gay, straight, young, old, single, or partnered.
